Guinea, situated in west Africa, is a country in clear need of MAF flights for both mission and the humanitarian/development communities.
The road conditions in the country are comparable to Liberia. Of the few roads that are available, only 5% are paved and during the rainy season the conditions create a significant barrier to internal transport and communication, especially in the east and north of the country. As part of our research, many NGOs and mission organisations have expressed they would like to do more in the country but are hindered by logistical challenges.
Since 2018, three surveys of Guinea have led us to conclude that the impact of mission agencies and INGOs will be greatly enhanced with the provision of MAF service; currently they are limited to ground transport only. In 2020 one staff member in country has progressed research, gathering further data through a number of road trips, and building relationships with officials and potential mission partners. It is our aim to launch a fully functioning programme in Guinea in the near future.
