A team of ten medical professionals and support staff from CURE and Ministry of Hope (MOH) partnered and embarked on a journey to Kwale and Kilifi. Their main purpose for this trip to the coastal region was to provide medical care as well as spread the message of faith and compassion.
The team consisted of seven members from CURE and three from MOH. Two were dedicated doctors who offered consultations and medical assistance. The trip lasted two days where the doctors worked tirelessly and ended up treating a total of 27 and 46 patients in Kwale and Kilifi respectively. Additionally, 20 patients from Kwale and 7 from Kilifi were booked for surgeries. This ensured that they would receive the specialised care that they needed.

Most of the common conditions screened in this area include foot conditions such as club foot and deformities on the knees like bowlegs and knocked knees. We are grateful for our partnership with MAF since we were able to conduct the two clinics in two days.
Some patients also needed appliances and bracing such as uncle foot appliances and spinal braces. Others needed mobility devices such as the walking frame.
Although no surgeries were performed on this trip, the scheduled procedures mark a crucial step towards long-term medical interventions for those in need.
Previous medical clinic trips have been held in locations like Port Reitz in Mombasa. This clearly show a testament of ongoing impact of medical outreach in the coastal region. The ability to reach remote areas was significantly enhanced by MAF’s flight services, which drastically reduced travel time. Without the flight, the journey to Kwale alone would have taken over nine hours, making timely medical care far less accessible.

It is a privilege as a pilot to be able to bring the team out here and see the impact that they are having on these children’s lives
Despite the challenges often associated with medical missions, this trip went smoothly, with no major obstacles encountered. One of the most memorable aspects of the journey was the breathtaking aerial view of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped peak a moment of beauty amidst the hard work and dedication of the medical team.
