Mission Aviation Fellowship teamed up with mission partners across Chad to meet practical needs – providing laptops and projectors that support missions in some of the country’s most remote places.

Did you know that in Dutch, a projector is called a ‘beamer’?

In some contexts, the word ‘beamer’ describes a cricket bowling technique, or a luxury car. Now picture the surprise of some Chadian mission partners when they received an offer for a ‘beamer’ from Dutch MAF staff…

But the real story here is about how God’s timing is always perfect.

Dr Voursyakbé is a Chadian pastor in the Guera region who recently obtained his doctorate in Old Testament. For his research work, he had to borrow computers here and there.

“Just recently, I saw him returning a laptop to its owner, even though he still needed it,” said Padeu, a friend from Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL).

“I must say that I am fully satisfied with it,” Voursyakbé said upon receiving the laptop. “It is efficient and meets my needs perfectly. May God bless you for this generous gesture.”

Earlier this year, Henk Groenendaal and Joop van den Bos, volunteers from MAF in the Netherlands, travelled to Chad to help with electrical work in the hangar and compound. But their contribution went further: They brought 10 laptops and 5 projectors to support local mission partners and ministries.

Mizeguel, a Chadian missionary from the Guera region, serves as a chaplain at a Christian school supported by The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM). Mizeguel needed a laptop to help develop curriculum and resources for his ministry in Gouro.

“Mizeguel asked me last week, and then your offer came out,” said Scott, a TEAM leader in Am Timan, where MAF’s Cessna 182 TT-BRT delivered the small but useful item for Mizeguel.

In N’Djamena, SIL received a laptop to help restore a virus-infected system containing 66,000 database entries for their library project.

“We plan to set up a Linux server for the library, and if we had a computer that could be set up as a dedicated server, that would really help them out,” said Jeff from SIL.

MAF’s Country Director in Chad, Esmara, shared how perfectly timed the donation was, arriving during a season of deep need. She described the experience as a reminder of how God works through MAF’s support.

“It is such a blessing to see how God works things out! That we can help others in serving together—I think that’s a beautiful thing,” she said.

After reaching out to their partners, Esmara was stunned by how quickly all the devices were requested.

I’m really humbled to see God at work and see His timing in this.

“Some partners had just spoken with a local missionary about this or had been praying for a beamer.

“I’m really humbled to see God at work and see His timing in this. It also shows that MAF really cares about our mission partners—not just in the flying but also in other parts of their ministries.”

Other recipients include a school in Boudamassa, where Nathanael from Lutheran Brethren expressed gratitude.

“We run a primary and middle school in the town of Boudamassa, which could definitely use a computer and projector. Thanks so much!”

Worldwide Evangelisation for Christ in Abéché received a projector to enhance their various classes, as well as evangelistic outreach.

Abiola, who leads the Calvary Ministries outreach work in Chad, expressed gratitude for the provision of a beamer and added that the support will greatly strengthen their outreach efforts.

“We’ve been praying especially to have a beamer in the team for our language centre in town and for vision casting in local churches.”
